Forces Poetry Newsletter—March 2008
Our Second Web-Site
Spreading the Word
With a New Year comes new ideas. One of our newer members Roland has come up with the idea of a Forces Stories (FS) sister site which will compliment our existing Forces Poetry (FP).
Needless to say we are all very excited and are in planning mode already. We are looking at a few options and due to our very skinny piggy bank we are going for the cheapest available.
Mac is once again funding us to get going and we hope to have it completed and tested by the end of July 2008.( Now Live )
( It will now be launched on Monday 28th July 2008 )
( Now Live )
We’ll keep you informed. Annie x
We need to spread the word by letting people, organizations, groups etc know of our existence.
Annie and I do this on a semi regular basis but what we are thinking now is that with your local knowledge you may be able to help by contacting local newspapers, club newsletters, groups and even organizations.
If you wish to write to these type of places on behalf of FP please feel free to do so.
Thank you!
Our Forces Poetry book
We have made good progress in our plan to publish a book of our poems as we have now asked two lovely people to help by writing a foreword. First we asked Dame Vera Lynn and after a few emails we have
confirmation that this will now go ahead which is great news. Second we invited Graham Knight (Grahams son Ben died on active service in Afghanistan) to write a foreword too which he has kindly done and we are now preparing the first draft to send to Helen at SilverWood Books. To complete the draft we need the poems for the book so they need to be selected (voted for) by 05 April 2008. The voting system is working well with people voting for their favourite poems. Please visit the site and vote for the poems you would like to see in the book.
Vote for your poems by clicking on the vote facility at the bottom of any poem (you may need to register).

Fund raising (again)
With our new site being planned, the book costs not far away, the urgent need to have our site meet the accessibility laws DDA and the need to maintain a £5000 income to allow us to register as a charity, we need to find ways to generate income.
If you know of any organization which you believe may consider an annual pledge (any amount) please let us know and we’ll do the rest; or if you’d prefer to by all means use your contacts to see if you can raise donations or an annual pledge. We need any ideas you can think of as we desperately need to become
registered as soon as possible.
Feel free to write to local papers, newsletters and spread the word of Forces Poetry, or even forward this
newsletter to people who you think would enjoy it.
We need you to come back on a regular basis so if you set yourself a reminder to post even
once a week that would be lovely.
Thanks, Annie x
